Slap on the wrist for former Laredo Guardsman

A slap on the wrist tonight for a Laredo guardsman accused of being part of an immigrant smuggling ring.
A federal judge has sentenced 27-year-old private first class Jose Rodrigo Torres to two years in prison.
Torres was arrested in June 2007.
He was caught driving through a checkpoint in a van loaded with twenty-four immigrants.
That van was leased to the Texas army national guard.
Torres and another guardsmen, Clarence hodge, pleaded guilty in august of 2007.
Hodge received a much stiffer sentence.
Another guardsman, Sgt. Julio Cesar Pacheco, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to transport illegal immigrants.
He has yet to be sentenced.
