Fire Department gets grant from Homeland Security
The Laredo Fire Department gets funding to buy new equipment from Homeland Security.
The department says the money couldn't come at a better time.
Today they received 400-thousand dollars.
The grant money will be used to purchase air packs that help firefighters breath on the front lines.
The current air packs are 30 years old and they need to purchase new ones.
Now with a red flag warning in effect they will also use the money to purchase equipment to combat grass fires.
