Mindy Casso, life-long resident of Laredo, serves as the Pro-8 News Today and Pro-8 News at Noon co-anchor.
Her passion for communications began upon graduating from United High School in 1986. Seeing a need for quality outreach efforts in the field of media, Mindy chose to major in Journalism, with a concentration in Public Relations, receiving her BA from Southwest Texas State University, now Texas State University, in San Marcos, Texas, in 1990. Since then, she has spent the last 18 years working in the communications field.
Mindy is an active member of the community having served as board member of several non-profit agencies, including United Way of Laredo, Junior Achievement, the Imaginarium of South Texas, Leadership Laredo and the Gateway Rotary Club. She received Rotary’s highest honor—the Paul Harris Award—in 2000. In 2002, Mindy was inducted into United High School’s Longhorn Legends for her work in communications, and has earned several other awards for her community involvement.
Mindy, and husband Peter, have two sons, 5 year old Peter Jr., and 3 year old Michael. Mindy is a dedicated mother who says raising her two boys is the most challenging job she’s ever held….but by far, the job she enjoys the most.
