Darryl Smith called up to AHL

By Ray Gomez

Today in the CHL... the Laredo Bucks made a bittersweet announcement this morning. Former CHL rookie of the year Darryl Smith has been called up to the Manitoba Moose of the American Hockey League. The 22-year-old has scored nine points in six games for the Bucks this season... including two multi-goal games... and one game-winner. Word from Bucks camp is Smith will have 3 games to impress his new team. If he doesn't make an impact in those three games he'll be sent back to Laredo following Saturday night's game. This is the second career AHL call-up for Smith... who played four games for Houston last year. Smith is expected to be in the line-up for the Moose Thursday when they visit the Houston Aeros at the Toyota Center.
