Broncos hire hall of fame hitting coach

The Laredo Broncos held a press conference Wednesday afternoon to announce the signing of Alejandro Ortiz as the teams new hitting coach. Ortiz played over 25 years in the Mexican League and is third all time in homeruns with 435. He is also seventh all time in hits at 2550 and played half his career with the Tecolotes de Los Dos Laredos. He was the hitting coach for the Tecolotes in 2010 but resigned April 1st to seek the opportunity with the Broncos. Ortiz was also field manager of the Minitlian Petroleros of the Mexican League in 2009.
