TAMIU Softball and Baseball Underway

By KGNS News

Softball:
Texas A&M International University and Texas A&M-Kingsville split a season-opening doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon at Hubert Field in Kingsville. The home team won the opener 3-2 in eight innings and TAMIU won the second game 4-0.

Baseball:
It was a rocky start for the Texas A&M International University Dustdevils Baseball team as they opened the seaon on the road against University Texas-Brownsville. TAMIU would suffer a minor setback as they arrived later than expected pushing the start time back 30 min to 6:30pm. The pitching and hitting would be there early but fall of late as the Dustdevils would come up short in the win column by a final count of 5-2. TAMIU moves to a record of 0-1 overall. A blast of arctic weather and related travel issues have combined to push this weekend's UT-Permian Basin at Texas A&M International University baseball series back a day to a Saturday-Sunday format.
The Falcons and Dustdevils will play a doubleheader on Saturday and a single game on Sunday. First pitch both days is scheduled for noon.
