Vasquez Named Hitter Of The Week

4-8 In Series Versus OPSU

exas A&M International University sophomore Marina Vásquez has been named Heartland Conference Hitter of the Week for games played Mar. 7-13.

Vásquez entered the week with three hits and a .136 batting average but that did not stop her from turning in an outstanding weekend against Oklahoma Panhandle State. She went 4-for-8 against the Lady Aggies with three home runs and eight RBI.

The home runs were hit in three consecutive innings in Saturday's game one 10-6 win over OPSU. Vásquez contributed six RBI in that win and two RBI in a 10-1 win in game two on Saturday, a result that secured a four-game season sweep for the Dustdevils.
