Event Description
The Webb County Heritage Foundation and the Mexican Consulate of Laredo are bringing more spooky fun and hair-raising action ’70s-style to the patio of the Border Heritage Museum at 810 Zaragoza St. this Friday night at 8 p.m.
The Mexican cinema’s legendary hero El Santo, a silver masked wrestler who fights the forces of evil, continues the movie series in “El Santo y Blue Demon en la Atlántide”, also starring another campy hero of the sci-fi wrestling movie genre, Blue Demon. In this movie, the masked wrestlers square off against Nazis, space aliens, and a sinister plot hatched in Atlantis! Audience participation is encouraged.
Movies are in Spanish with English subtitles.
In addition, this Friday’s activities include the opening reception for “El Santo y El Horror del Cine Mexicano”, a vintage Mexican movie poster exhibit on display in the upstairs gallery of the Border Heritage Museum. Posters are from the collection of Freddy Peralta of McAllen, Texas.
The Border Heritage Museum is also showcasing the exhibit, “Haunted Heritage – Myths and Legends of Laredo” featuring ghost folklore and Laredo’s most famous haunted sites.
“This Friday’s event is free, but a donation of $5 is always appreciated,” said Margarita Araiza, Executive Director of the Webb County Heritage Foundation.
The Border Heritage Museum will host a different movie on the patio at 8 p.m. every Friday in October.
And Ghost Trolley Tours will be offered during the last two weeks of October.
