Eight bright and enthusiastic high schoolers are honored for the positive impact they have made, not only in their schools, but also in the community.
They took part in the Community Role Model Awards sponsored by the Webb County Sheriff's Department, the Fernando A. Salinas Charitable Trust and Your Good Neighbor Station.
The program was held this afternoon at Martin High School, where each student received a plaque and scholarship money to Laredo Community College.
Sheriff Martin Cuellar highlighted the importance of being a role model in the community and the essential part all of these teens will play in Laredo’s future.
The Community Role Model Awards is a new program that started this year to highlight the accomplishments of responsible and civic-minded teens in high school.
