Local students honored as "Community Role Models"

A group of students were recognized today for being role models in our community.
Seven high school students were honored as part of the "Community Role Model Awards."
Each student received a plaque, a certificate, and $150 good for books at LCC.
One of the students, Mayra Gutierrez, from Cigarroa High School also received a $500 scholarship.
The students are nominated for not only doing well in the classroom, but also for the community service they do, and extra cirricular activities they are involved in.
The program is sponsored by the Webb County Sheriff's Office, Sheriff Martin Cuellar, the Fernando A. Salinas charitable trust and your Good Neighbor Station...KGNS-TV.
