A group of Laredo students are honored today for being community role models. The Webb County Sheriff’s Department, Sheriff Martin Cuellar, the Fernando Salinas charitable trust, and your good neighbor station recognized one student from each high school. The students were honored for being role models for their peers and for having good grades and giving back to the community.
"The community role model is a boy/girl ..........those are the things we look at to pick a student."
Each student is given a plaque and one deserving student is awarded with a 500-dollar scholarship. Today’s ceremony was the first of the new school year.
