A group of Laredo area middle schoolers were honored as Eighth Graders of the Year Thursday morning.
The annual awards ceremony recognizes outstanding students from middle schools across Laredo.
The honorees were selected for essays they submitted: "What is the biggest obstacle facing today's teens and what steps would you take to fix it?"
Topics ranged from bullying to drugs & alcohol and teen pregnancy.
One winner was selected from each middle school in Laredo and three of those students were awarded 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place honors.
All students received a plaque, certificate and an amazing array of prizes from all our "Friends of the Family" partners which include the Laredo Police Department, Laredo Medical Center, Family Chevrolet, and Armadillo Homes, as well as your Good Neighbor Station, KGNS-TV.
