Today Olga Gentry, the current principal at St. Augustine Elementary was named the new principal of St. Augustine High School.
Her predecessor, Kathleen Sarmiento, passed away from cancer in June of this year.
Mrs. Gentry was born and raised right here in Laredo and is a graduate of St. Augustine high school.
She began her teaching career at Ryan Elementary in 1986 and has served as principal of St. Augustine elementary since the fall of 2002.
Ms. Gentry will take her seat as principal this upcoming January.
Filling her seat as principal of St. Augustine Elementary will be Silvia Cortez.
Mrs. Cortez has served as assistant principal at the elementary for six years and also brings with her an additional eight years of administrative experience from L.I.S.D.
