A man leads law enforcement agencies on a chase around town this morning. It happened after a traffic stop went wrong... The chase ended up at the riverbanks. It was a combined effort between the Department of Public Safety, Border Patrol and the Laredo Police department to track down this suspect. According to authorities the suspect was traveling in circles. " When the trooper got down to make contact with the driver. The driver place the vehicle in reverse and attempted to run over the trooper." That is where the high-speed chase began around town. The suspect traveling in a white pick up truck took many highways like I-35 north and south bound, also through Loop 20 and Mines road. " We had enough units to kind of block him but he was either running off the road or cutting corners." The suspect finally bailed out near the riverbanks next to the World Trade Bridge. There he decides to swim back to Mexico but he got a big surprise there. " Mexican authorities had been contacted. So they were already in route. Went ahead and arrested the subject." The suspect gave authorities a good run and he even struggled when he was swimming across the river.
