Laredo police are investigating an early morning shooting on the north side.
A 21-year-old man from Roma was shot in the face just before four o'clock this morning in the 74-hundred block of Michigan in north Laredo.
Family members of the victim Jose Antonio Alaniz say he is a student at TAMIU and is working on getting a teaching degree.
Police say they found Alaniz lying on the ground when they arrived to the scene after a 9-1-1 call about a fight.
The man was first taken to Doctors hospital and then air-lifted to Brooks Army Medical Center in San Antonio.
Family members say Alaniz is in critical condition.
Police are handling the case as an assault.
No suspect has been identified.
