Medical examiner doctor Coreen Stern...has ruled the death of a two year old that died over the weekend a homicide.
Meanwhile the Laredo police department is keeping a tight lip on the investigation.
Our Noraida Negron was at the home today and has the latest in our top story tonight.
Detectives worked through the weekend gathering evidence on the death investigation of a two year old.
Joe Baeza, Laredo police department, "We secure the scene Saturday morning. There was a Police officer that stayed to secure the scene. Come Sunday morning investigators came back for a secondary sweep of the entire home."
Since then investigators have been interviewing potential witnesses in the case.
Medical examiner Coreen stern ruled the death of two-year-old Katherine Cardenas a homicide.
But police are not releasing any information regarding the circumstances of her death.
"What we are doing right now preliminary is a death investigation but in all truthfulness is being handled as you would a homicide investigation."
Police say they received a 9-1-1 call from the home stating a two year old was missing.
Officers arrived to check the area and after several minutes they found the body of the girl.
According to police the body was found outside the home.
"The condition and the exact location of where the child was found is not available right now for release because is part of the investigation."
Meanwhile the outside of the home was transformed into a small memorial for Katherine.
Neighbors had already placed candles and stuffed animals in memory of the two year old.
Hoping they can find out what happened to their little angel.
Police are still investigating the case and gathering evidence from the home.
