Judge Raul Vasquez announces he won't seek re-election

After 28 years of being in office in Webb County a local judge has announced he will not be seeking re-election.
Many were surprised to hear judge Raul Vasquez say he is retiring at an announcement Judge Raul Vasquez made a very brief speech today in front of dozens of people.
Many who say it’s a bittersweet moment.
Dozens waited in the central jury room for the announcement this afternoon.
Vasquez says he's realized he did his very best and it was time to step aside and let someone else enjoy the position he has held for three terms.
Vasquez has spent 28 years in office starting with his position as justice of the peace.
He says he loves what he does and can't believe how much the 111th district court has evolved.
“I have screens for everything we have computers I have real time we are ahead of the game.” The Judge told Pro 8 News.

Tonight at six we'll hear more from Vasquez supporters who say they may not be ready to see him go.
Vasquez will stay in office until December of 2010.today.
