Pro 8 Update: Bags of cash uncovered in 8-liner raid

By Ray Gomez

We have new information on the raid of an eight liner that occurred Sunday afternoon.
Police raided the Mystic Amusement Center on McPherson and the owner's home.
The Laredo Police Department found thousands of dollars in cash in both establishments.
Mystic Amusement has been open for three months now and police started the investigation back then.
During the investigation, under cover officers found that this establishment was paying more than five dollars in cash...something that is against state law.
Sunday afternoon police raided the eight-liner establishment and the owner’s home.
At the home police found three weapons and ammunition
They also found close to 114-thousand dollars in cash, some inside a brown bag.
A large sum of money was found hidden under the bed frame.
There was a compartment where the money was hidden.
"What we did find was basically bags full of money out in plain view at the home when the officers went to serve the arrest warrant." Investigator Joe Baeza told Pro 8 News.

At the establishment police also seized more than 12 thousand dollars in cash.
The man arrested in this case Ernesto Cuevas Villarreal.
Police say Villarreal is from Mexico and was in Laredo with a working visa.
He is now in federal custody.
Coming up on Pro 8 News at six, we'll tell you how many eight-liner establishments are in the city and what happened to the other eight liner cases pending in court.
