Laredo DPS braces for violence spillover from Mexico

Governor Rick Perry announced a contingency plan for the Texas border as the violence in Mexico increases.
Law enforcement agencies involved include the Texas Department of Public Safety.
In a statement, DPS in Laredo says they will be monitoring the security situation around the clock.
They have increased their patrol, and surveillance to deter spillover violence along the border.
DPS is also recommending Texans avoid traveling into Mexico.
They are coordinating efforts with local, state and federal law enforcement partners.
Also, DPS is increasing the day and night helicopter patrol operations along the river.
Ranger recon teams will be deployed when needed.
Additional trooper strike teams are on standby and the DPS swat team has been activated as well.
