Laredo police continue with their crackdown on prostitution.
Last night five women were arrested on charges of prostitution.
Recently police have been conducting these types of operations.
This time the arrests happened on the city's west side.
Five women were arrested; Monica Cabello, Irma Alvarado, Juanita Compean, Vanessa Arrendondo and Martha Moreno are facing charges of prostitution.
The crackdown occurred along the 53-hundred block of Santa Maria.
That’s where they found the females offering sex for money to undercover officers.
Police say this is a growing problem in our city and they are working to stop it.
According to police many prostitutes are drug users, and there is even a possibility that some are HIV positive or have sexually transmitted diseases.
Police say they will continue to carry out these operations as needed.
