SUV crashes into Zacate Creek after fleeing BP, two dead, two critical

Two people are dead after plummeting into Zacate Creek while trying to escape Border Patrol agents.

It happened this afternoon when Border Patrol agents received a call reporting a case of human smuggling.

When they arrived, several people tried to run on foot while others tried to escape in an SUV.

The driver lost control, went off road, and landed upside down in the creek.

Two people were killed and two others were taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Five people have been arrested in the case so far.

The crash itself is currently under investigation.
