County Commissioner sued for $57 thousand

By Ray Gomez

A County Commissioner is being sued for money he allegedly owes a former Webb County Judge.

According to Louis Bruni and his attorney, Frank Sciaraffa owes him close to $57 thousand. There are two promissory notes signed by Sciaraffa to pay the money in full within 48 months.

The notes are signed back in 2005 and 2008.

Bruni's attorney urged a motion for contempt today in court and the judge ordered Sciaraffa to attend the next deposition hearing.

"We have no idea what the money was for. We've heard he bought a pick up truck. It doesn't concern us; it’s just the fact the money was borrowed. There were terms and they were not followed by Sciaraffa."

Bruni's attorney wants to emphasize that this case has nothing to do with politics even though Bruni has contributed to Sciaraffa's campaigns in the past.

We talked to Sciaraffa’s attorney Alberto Alarcon and he says this case is a private matter between his client and Mr. Bruni.
