Sheriff deputies take down load of pot following chase

One man is in custody after a chase down Highway 83 early this morning.
According to the Webb County Sheriff's Department, they followed the man from Rio Bravo to south Laredo.
Over 820 pounds of pot wrapped in 29 bundles were found inside a black Chevy pick-up truck.
Behind the wheel was Cesar Pineda who is now in custody.
Authorities say he's a Valluco gang member from Brownsville.
Sheriff officials say he led them on a chase because he was hauling a load of marijuana.
They stopped him at about six am near the intersection of San Rafael and Pita Magana where he was injured after falling into some cactus on the side of the road.
An off duty Laredo Community College police officer and Laredo police assisted in the chase.
