The business is fairly new and, already, police have moved in to seize 8-liner machines. The raid happened around 3 this afternoon. It's a story you'll see first on eight. Our Annette Garcia has more on the story.
"An estimated 238 8-liner machines have now been seized, after a search warrant was obtained and served at The Mystic amusement center on McPherson. Police raided the business early Sunday afternoon--the result of a month-long investigation. 'They were paying out large amounts of cash prizes to people who were playing the eight liner machines,' said investigator Joe Baeza of the Laredo Police Department. The business has not been open long, but appeared to be popular. Inside, police interviewed patrons who were at the establishment when the raid occurred. 'Being since they are potential witnesses in the investigation, they are being identified and photographed,' says Baeza. And, simultaneously across town, another raid uncovering large amounts of money and weapons inside the home of the business owner. Police along with the A.T.F. agents made arrests for possession of firearms at the home on McPherson Drive and Del Mar C; others were held for questioning. Meanwhile, authorities say they will begin the task of opening each machine at The Mystic to determine how much cash in total will be confiscated from the entire operation.
