Half a ton of marijuana found in tractor-trailer at BP checkpoint

Over half a ton of marijuana is seized just outside Laredo.

The seizure was made yesterday at the Border Patrol checkpoint on I-35. There, a service canine alerted agents to possible contraband inside a tractor-trailer.

While in secondary inspection, the agents found over 1,400 pounds of marijuana in the trailer. The drugs are worth an estimated $1.3 million.

The marijuana, driver and truck were turned over to the drug enforcement administration.
