Telethon raises millions for challenged in Mexico

A telethon aimed at helping physically and mentally challenged children in Mexico is getting major help from people right here in Laredo.

Tens of thousands of dollars was raised tonight at Paseo Real Reception Hall.

People from both Laredo and Nuevo Laredo came together for an art show and auction.

The money will be part of the funds raised during Teleton de Mexico on December 4th and 5th.

The telethon raises millions of dollars for the rehabilitation of disabled children in Mexico.

Over the past twelve years the event has raised enough money to construct seventeen children rehab centers in major cities across Mexico.

Laredo has been the big telethon fundraiser outside that country.

This is the second event for Teleton in our city,

Another fundraiser is planned this weekend at Mall del Norte.
