17-year-old convicted of murder

In the 49th District Court this afternoon, a jury found 17 year old Emilio Barron guilty of murder in the first degree.

Prosecutors say he violently attacked Jose Vidal Rodriguez and his son Abiel Rodriguez, back on January 20th of this year.

The elder Rodriguez was celebrating his birthday and chose to accompany his son to work. Two men attacked them with an unknown object.

Both victims suffered injuries in the attack, including blunt force trauma.

The elder Rodriguez died at a local hospital from his injuries.

Barron was also found guilty on two counts of second-degree robbery.
