$74,000 In Cocaine Taken Off Laredo Streets

By KGNS News

A central Laredo apartment complex is raided following a tip to the Webb County Sheriff's office.
This kilo has a street value of $74,000 dollars.
The over two pounds of cocaine was found during an investigation in this apartment just one block away from a central Laredo elementary school.
Based on evidence found inside the apartment, the Webb County Sheriff believes this suspect may be one small part of a very large drug trafficking ring.
At the scene Sheriff Martin Cuellar said, “not just anyone is going to give a kilo to a person and have it there.”
“Having this amount of drugs inside, its not just somebody that does it for personal use. It’s no doubt that the narcotics are going to be spread out through the city,” said Chief Federico Garza.
Even more evidence was found outside thanks to a hit from drug dogs, that confirms the suspicions of the Sheriff's office.
Authorities ran their drugs dogs around the vehicles and inside found the dashboard had been completely gutted out making room for more drugs.
Cuellar said, “one of the vehicles appears to have a compartment where the airbag is supposed to be but it seems to be built to smuggle.”
“The hidden compartments inside the vehicles will give us insight on how they were moving narcotics back and forth so that’s why we're so interested in those vehicles.”
Authorities plan on looking into whether any of the two vehicles in question have crossed the border.
And if, so how many times.
Hoping it will lead to more arrests and more drugs off the streets.
