Pro 8 On Location: Trial against alleged Zeta hitman ends in mistrial

By KGNS News

A mistrial is declared in the high-profile federal case of an alleged Zeta hitman.

The jury was unable to reach a verdict in the case against 24-year-old Gerardo Castillo.

Castillo was facing 35 counts, but the jury agreed to find him not guilty on count number 36, a firearm possession charge during a violent crime.

The defense says the prosecution could not prove his client possessed a firearm.

Several high-profile witnesses were brought in to testify in the case, including Rosalio Reta, Raul Jasso, and other alleged associates of Castillo.

Jury selection for a second trial is set for Friday, February 19th, with opening statements set for Monday, February 22nd.
