Webb County Tax Assessor-Collector Patricia Barrera now knows her fate for her part in running a gambling operation out of her office.
She will have to pay the state all the money she made in proceeds collected by her employees who sold raffles under her direction.
She was originally facing a state misdemeanor violation.
Barrera says that, prior to the Attorney General's investigation, she was unaware that selling lottery tickets and raffles was against the law.
As long as she meets the requirements of the court, all charges will be dismissed.
The requirements include forfeiting all money made in raffles and ticket sales.
In a press release, Barrera’s attorney says she apologizes for not knowing the laws involved.
