Murder on the steps of Bruni Public Library: Second homicide of year

By KGNS News

Reports of a dead body found lying on the steps of the Bruni Plaza Library quickly turned into a murder scene. Now police are busy collecting evidence and talking to surrounding neighbors, all in the hopes that new information might lead them towards a suspect in what is now Laredo's second homicide of the year. Our Cynthia Cano has more on the story.
" Thanks Concetta. Police began this morning with calls of a reported dead body lying on the 1100 block of San Bernardo. When they arrived, they found puddles of blood, and several articles of clothing and evidence scattered around. Now there's no word on exactly how long the body was lying there, but police say they are ruling it a homicide. 'At this particular point, the case is still unraveling. They are canvassing the area, talking to potential witnesses at this point; but nobody has been officially named as a suspect in this case,' says Investigator Joe Baeza, PIO with the Laredo Police Department. Police say the victim was a homeless man in his early sixties. We spoke to officials who work at the library who said they knew him well. We'll have more details about this homicide coming up on Pro 8 News at ten. Back to you."
