The DPS director says, "there is an increase in Mexican drug cartel related violence in the northern Mexican border cities."
He adds: "parents should not allow their children to visit these Mexican cities because their safety can not be guaranteed."
Meanwhile a spokesperson for the DPS in Laredo says people should take every precaution when going over into Mexico.
