Despite high security, NL Consulate insists city is safe

By KGNS News

Security is heavy at the U.S. Consulate office in Nuevo Laredo.
Despite the recent violence, the U.S. Consulate in our sister city says everything is “fine.”
According to officials, the consulate office is open and all employees are still working.
That's despite the warning from the U.S. government, authorizing family members of consulate employees to cross the border into the U.S.
There are six U.S. Consulate offices in Mexico cities along the border between the U.S. and Mexico.
A week ago, the U.S. Consul in Nuevo Laredo, Donald Heflin, said in an interview that our sister city is calm and is safe to live in.
