Prisoners escape from State Prison in Dilley, Texas

By KGNS News

The Laredo Police Department is on high alert this Tuesday afternoon after two prison inmates, one a convicted murderer, escaped from a South Texas State Prison.
State prison officials said 21-year old Jose Bustos-Diaz and 27-year old Octavio Ramos Lopez cut through a fence and fled on foot from the Briscoe unit in Dilley, Texas.
That's located just halfway between Laredo and San Antonio on interstate thirty-five.
The two prisoners were last at the prison early this morning.
Police describe Ramos as five foot-seven inches tall and 145 pounds.
Bustos is five feet-eight inches tall and weighs in at 160 pounds.
Authorities say Bustos-Diaz is serving a 35 year sentence for murder while Lopez is serving 20 years on charges of aggravated kidnapping and possession of cocaine.
Police urge the public to be cautious when driving along I-35 as the two men are considered to be extremely dangerous and should not be approached.
If you see them, you are urged to call police immediately at 795-2800.
