Alleged Kidnapping Case: Jury Selection

Three alleged kidnappers made an appearance in court Monday for their alleged involvement in a kidnapping case.
We first brought you the story of three suspects, 23 year old Abraham Linares, his father in law, 48 year Romeo Hinojosa, and 27 year old Carlos Zambrano, who are accused of kidnapping a man at gunpoint on May 2, 2011.
The three suspects are charged with aggravated kidnapping, engaging in organized criminal activity. However, Zambrano is charged with an additional charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Monday morning, attorneys on both sides argued to accept or deny several motions on certain pieces of evidence. According to records, the victim's brother witnessed the kidnapping, and was then able to jump in his vehicle and chase the suspects. As he called for help on his cell phone, a nearby Webb County Sheriff Deputy stopped the suspect's vehicle on a speeding violation. Upon further investigation, the victim signaled to the deputy he had allegedly just been kidnapped. After pre-trial motions were heard, jury selection got underway.
Once a panel of 12 and an alternate juror are seated, open arguments will begin. The D.A.'s office says the trial should last about a week.
