Allergies affect many people in the gateway city and maybe even more now with the rain. We spoke to an allergy doctor who says mold is around when the weather is hot and sunny whereas pollen is in grass. With this much needed rain we saw those people with pollen allergies will see some relief.
Dr. Jane Unzeitig \ Allergy & Immunology Specialist:
"Rain usually helps pollen sufferers because it washes the pollen out of the air brings it down. but then what does it do? It tends to nourish those weeds and grasses so then we have increased pollen maybe a couple of days or weeks later."
She says the rain is like a double edged sword since it washes the pollen away but stirs it right back up again.
