Police responding to an anonymous call ended up in a chase last night. Officers attempted to stop a suspicious vehicle in the 2100 block of New York. The driver of the vehicle refused to stop and led police on a chase that ended at Chacon and Hendricks where the occupants of the car ran. Police were assisted by the Border Patrol in the arrest of the suspects. Luis Martinez, Carrie Mendez, and Omar Rodriguez were all arrested and charged with evading arrest. Laredo police spokesman Joe Baeza said, ”in the vehicle they did find a white powdery substance in the backseat which was collected and sent off for narcotics identification and each one of these individuals has an extensive criminal history with the Laredo Police Dept. All of them have some sort of arrest in their criminal history in relationship to burglary of a vehicle, habitation, so there is a pretty probability these people were out to burglarize a person or residence or vehicle." The police investigation is still ongoing.
