Beloved educator dies in auto accident

By KGNS News

Esther Buckley was the victim of a fatal crash Monday afternoon.

Buckley was well known in education circles having served as a teacher at LISD for more than 40 years, most recently as part of the staff at the Dennis Cantu Health Magnet at Martin High School. Over those years she received numerous recognitions for her outstanding service.

One of those, "One Class At A Time,” featured on KGNS.

LISD released a statement that says, "The hearts of everyone in the district are greatly saddened at this time. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Buckley family."

We're told the driver of the vehicle was Buckley’s son, also an educator at LISD. Both had gone to Austin to lobby state leaders for more money for Laredo schools.
