"Something so simple that we're not able to get, now we have a good amount to last us for months."
Close to $6,000 worth of food was delivered to Bethany House from the Rio Grande Detention Center. It's the third year the group has donated essentials to the Bethany House.
"Rice, beans, canned goods, green beans, corn."
The Dircetor of Bethany House says those items will last close to three months. She says a lot of students have been offering their time and if anyone wants to donate any amount of food. Small or big, they will gladly take it.
"It's all going to get used immediately. None of that stuff stays here for very long. We also make grocery bags for emergency so if they want to bring small canned goods, those will go out."
At this time of year, Saldana says it's great that so many want to help.
"We're a non profit so for people to want to come out and help us it's overwhelming. it makes us happy."
