Laredo's mayor was among a group of city officials who paid a visit to the city of West, Texas today. They presented a check to the city of West on behalf of our city. Mayor Raul Salinas, Police Chief Ray Garner, and Fire Department Assistant Chief Tony Garibay, made the six-hour drive to West to tour the devastation left behind by a fire and explosion at a fertilizer plant one month ago. They were able to see the remnants left behind that were once homes, apartments, and even a nursing home. Laredo officials presented a check to the Mayor of West, fire chief, and West police chief, on behalf of the city of Laredo for $10,000. The money will be used to assist in recover efforts as the city works to rebuild.
