With more time on their hands... Police say some kids are getting in trouble with criminal mischief activity.
Now that school is out for spring break, more activity of broken windows and stolen stop signs are being reported.
We asked police if that's normal for spring break.
Spring break is a time most students look forward as the last long vacation until summer break. That sometimes means more crime. We asked people if they have noticed anything unusual.
"They're cruising really late. I see them about four in the morning down San Bernardo. They're just cruising, not throwing out trash or beer cans, just cruising...and loud music."
This woman says she lives in an apartment complex near Canada and Corpus Christi and so far it's been quiet. But that doesn't mean juvenile crime is down.
"Whenever kids have a lot of time on their hands, there is a chance for them to get themselves in trouble."
Baeza says they are currently seeing vandalism crimes to vehicles.
"Kids are actually witnessed passing by a house or intersection and them throwing rocks at a vehicle and completely breaking out the back window."
Another incident being seen is theft of public property like stop signs which Baeza says could lead to an accident. He says parents should try to keep them in the house and spend quality family time together.
"Keep them occupied in some sort of positive way."
Baeza goes on to say a lot of kids spend their spring break cooped up inside watching tv or playing video games.
