Family Distraught Over Stolen Pet

Donald and Elena Provencher clutch the picture other their pet mallard duck, Sammy, who has been missing for two days. After a trip to the doctor, they noticed Sammy was no where to be found.
"We wondered where he was and she asked me. She says, “have you seen Sammy?” and I said no."
They have cared for him for 7 years now and say there's no way he could have gotten out of the yard.
"He doesn't go out of this yard. I can leave the gate open and he won't even go out the front."
But there's a reason why this duck is extra special to them.
"He's very special to us because he belonged to my grandson. Our grandson was killed in an automobile accident."
Their grandson, Evaristo Ortega IV was killed by a drunk driver in San Antonio in 2005 when he was just 21 years old. Ever since then, they have taken care of his pet duck, Sammy.
"I lost everything...everything i was holding on to...a life."
The Provenchers love all of their grandchildren but say they will never get over the loss of Evaristo.
"But there's a place missing. There's a big hole in my heart."
They showed us the cage Sammy sleeps in at night since he is afraid of all of the animals outside. He even has a pool he splashes around in to cool off in the Laredo heat. As they tell the story of their missing pet and what it really means to them, it is easy to see their hearts are broken.
"That's all I have from my grandson so please bring him back."
