Well its a tradition going 24 years strong.
As thousands of Lareadoans gather to share more than just a meal..
Our Lauren Kendrick was at the Laredo civic center and joins us with more on the annual feast of sharing.
Well it may still be a few days away until thanksgiving but that didn't stop some people from getting in the holiday spirit.
It's an annual event that draws a large crowd that brings families together.
Thousands of people lined the civic center parking lot for an early thanksgiving meal. It's part of the annual feast of sharing put on by HEB.
"We're anticipating to feed 12,000 people. It's a plate consisting of turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, cornbread, vegetable medley, pumpkin pie and a drink."
From young and old, people could not wait to feast. We got a behind the scenes look at what goes into making all of the food in their mobile food truck.
"Right here we're warming up 16 trays of turkey. We have our veggies ready to be served."
Pete has been volunteering his time for nine years ensuring people have a great thanksgiving meal.
"Satisfaction that you're feeding people that perhaps this is the only thanksgiving meal they'll have all year so it's really gratifying really."
Another volunteer was the mayor of Laredo who thanked HEB for always giving back to the community.
"A lot of these folks this is the only meal they're going to have an when you see their smiles when you see the number of volunteers this is Laredo. Laredo has a big heart."
Smiles were definitely visible even while waiting in line.
"Give thanks to god for blessing him. Eating and having a good time with my parents."
Elvis was even in line entertaining people while waiting for their feast of sharing.
It's not just Laredo that HEB holds the feast of sharing.
There will be over thirty feast of sharing around the state of Texas this month and next.
