Fire Department Administration Building Opening

By KGNS News

If you've driven down Del Mar Blvd, you've noticed the on-going construction of the new administrative building for some time now.
"The construction process from start to finish took about 16-18 months."
After nearly two years, the doors will open Monday. Members of the Laredo Fire Department wanted to make this new building more convenient and accessible to the public.
"That means that we've consolidated all of the support administrative offices so if you the customer has to tend to any business, you can do it under one roof."
The building features a modern design on the inside and outside. Fire Captain Eloy Vega says one of the ideas was to make it state of the art but also functional. Inside, there is a mock ambulance to help the students practice real life situations.
"The audio visual technology that's incorporated into the classrooms is state of the art to provide the best visual and audio to the students."
One thing you won't see for a couple of months is this mural behind me. They plan to unveil that September 11th.
"It's a beautiful mural that honors the firefighters, those that have served in the past and those that continue to serve."
For those of you who have been following the progress of the building and want to get a glimpse inside, Vega says anyone is welcome.
"Come on in. Visit us and the doors will be opened."
