During the flu season, it's important to focus on healthy habits.
If you're trying to avoid the flu, a physician we spoke to says the critical healthy habit we must practice is hand washing. Symptoms of the flu are: a sore throat, fever/chills, cough, fatigue, a runny nose and muscle aches or headaches. Remember that you must receive medication within the first 48 hours of these symptoms, in order for them to be effective. If you already have the flu, and have taken time off from work, but can't wait to go back, the Dr. Rodolfo Urby has some advice. "They really should be fever free. You could otherwise be potentially contagious."
Flu shots are still being offered in several places around town, and don't forget to get your entire family vaccinated. There are even nasal spray vaccines for children who will appreciate a less painful option.
