More and more reports are being made across the state of the abuse of Food Stamps.
Some families receive thousands each month in benefits... and the funds are not always spent on healthy foods for daily meals.
Junk food is a big part of many people's diets and some people feel food stamps shouldn't be allowed to be used for those items.
Shopper Angel Rodriguez said, “ well I think it depends on the people and how they use it and I really honestly think it's wrong and they should use it to buy healthy food for their kids and stuff but it depends on the person. on the person.”
State representative Richard Raymond authored house bill 751 which bans junk food and soft drinks from being purchased under the U.S.D.A.'s supplemental nutrition assistance program.
