Free Tax Prep Available
The tax preparation is a way to prepare income taxes for free and for low income families.
"This gives an opportunity to try and get every dollar that they can and be able to re-invest that back into the community."
With the way the economy is, Vasquez says people coming in are very appreciative for the help.
"Everyone wants to be able to try and use every dollar or every penny that they get and be able to use that for everything from school supplies...groceries."
Every volunteer helping prepare the tax information is certified by the IRS. All you need to bring is your copy of last year's tax return, information for deductions if that applies to you, social security cards, and proof of you account for the direct deposit. Depending on your circumstance, you may be asked to supply more items.
"It's filed electronically and then it is direct deposited into a savings or checking account. So the time frame also is shorter."
The library will be holding these vita tax sessions every Friday from 9am-12pm and Saturday from 9am-1pm.
"We always suggest you try and do it as soon as possible. That way you don't wait until the last minute."
Vasquez says there is always a big rush at the beginning and end of tax season.
