Going Green this 2013

By KGNS News

If you have proposed to become more environmentally conscious this year, the best way to start is with a small steps that can add up. Tricia Cortez, the executive director of the Rio Grande International Study Center, has a few suggestions on how to shrink your carbon footprint this 2013.

1.Filtered Water Over Bottled Water: "Starting with water: Rather than buy and spend a lot of money, take up a lot of land space and use a lot of petroleum and oil on buying plastic water bottles, just get one reusable bottle and carry this around with you."

2.Reusable Shopping Bags: "Also another thing is take your reusable bags to the grocery store. It took me a long time to remember each and every time to take them out of my car into the store, but again these are habits that take time to form."

3.Get In Touch With the Environment: "I think it would be wonderful for more people in Laredo of all ages to really make a connection with our environment on Laredo. I think it's up to us to take care of it and defend it, and make sure that it remains beautiful, and pristine, and not bulldozed."
