A South Laredo hotel employee makes an unusual discovery as he was taking out the trash this morning.
Law enforcement officials say they found what is being described as a grenade like device at the red roof on Zapata Highway.
A call was placed to 911 after an employee of the Red Roof Inn in South Laredo came across a device that resembled a grenade left by the dumpster.
The Laredo Police Department, Fire Department and the Laredo Bomb Squad Unit secured the perimeter and retrieved the device which was later taken to a safe site for further investigation.
The Police Department says grenade findings in that area and under those circumstances are unusual.

"This particular location is actually brand-new. It was right by a dumpster, so it's obvious someone had left it there intentionally. So the police department is currently going through an investigation in this case."
The case is now under investigation.
