Middle school and high school students got a chance to learn about the wide variety of health careers.
In this economy, it's sometimes difficult to find a job.
That's why organizers of this event are targeting students at an early age.
"The health field is one of the largest growing fields right now in the united states. It's actually probably one of the only growing fields."
For the fifteenth year, the health occupations planning exposition was held to give the youth of Laredo an idea of what the health career field has to offer.
"We have to target the students at the middle school age so once they're in high school they can apply to the magnet programs."
This health career coordinator says there will always be a need for nurses doctors and any kind of health career professions. One student we spoke to may be young, but he already knows what he wants to do with his life.
"My dad works in physical therapy and I see what he does and it makes me want to do it too."
He says after going with his dad to work on a Saturday last year, he knew he wanted to follow in his father's footsteps. Another thing that peaked his interests is the fact that physical therapists use video games to heal their patients.
"It helps you move your body around and it controls your anger."
